Kootenai County’s government computer networks went down on a Monday evening with no immediate restoration timeline, causing disruptions across county offices and services.

The county confirmed that the 911 emergency system was not affected by the outage. Emergency dispatch and law enforcement communications continued to operate normally throughout the disruption.

County government operations including permitting, records access, and administrative functions were impacted. Staff worked on restoration while providing limited services through manual processes where possible.

The outage highlighted the growing dependence of county government operations on digital infrastructure. As Kootenai County has grown to become the most populous county in North Idaho, its technology infrastructure serves an expanding number of residents and transactions.
