Idaho Voters Overwhelmingly Support Trump in 2024 Republican Primary

Idaho voters delivered an overwhelming victory for Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, reflecting the state’s strong alignment with the former president’s agenda on immigration, energy, deregulation, and federal government reform.

North Idaho’s five counties reported some of the highest Trump vote percentages in the state. Kootenai, Bonner, Boundary, Benewah, and Shoshone counties all voted heavily for Trump, consistent with the region’s deep-red political identity.

The primary results confirmed what was already evident from voter registration data and local political engagement: North Idaho is firmly in the conservative populist camp of the Republican Party, with strong support for border security, Second Amendment rights, parental rights in education, and skepticism of federal government authority.

Down-ballot primary races across the region saw contested Republican primaries for legislative and county offices, with conservative challengers running to the right of some incumbents on issues including property taxes, education policy, and government spending.
